WHAT IS MICRODERMABRASION?
Microdermabrasion is a popular, non-invasive skin care procedure in which a provider uses a handheld device to exfoliate and remove the very top layer of skin cells and debris that delivers instant gratification.
Over time, dead skin cells, debris, and damage build up on our skin, creating an uneven surface that may keep us from feeling our most confident. Fortunately, you can remove this buildup and start fresh with microdermabrasion
Our FDA-approved, diamond tip machine will leave your skin looking wonderfully hydrated, brightened and firm. This treatment can be beneficial in minimizing the appearance of pores and acne scars, thereby achieving a more refined skin tone and texture.
WHAT DOES MICRODERMABRASION TREAT?
This option is excellent for several concerns, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Acne scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Dull skin
- Uneven skin texture
HOW LONG IS RECOVERY AFTER MICRODERMABRASION?
There is little to no recovery after microdermabrasion. You can resume most of your usual activities right away. You will likely notice an immediate difference in your skin’s texture and luminance after your treatment.
TIPS TO PREPARE FOR YOUR MICRODERMABRASION FACIAL
The best part of microdermabrasion is that it is appropriate at any time of the year, for any color skin, and with very little preparation. But, if you want to get the most out of your microdermabrasion session you’ll want to:
- Discontinue any exfoliative products or procedures seven days in advance of your appointment. These include retinoid products (products with tretinoin, adapalene or tazarotene as active ingredients), glycolic and salicylic acid and physical scrubs including Ultrasonic brushes.
- Also avoid any other cosmetic treatments one week in advance of your procedure. All of these can make your skin fragile and more susceptible to damage.
- Smoking and alcohol consumption affect the way your skin heals. If you can avoid these activities at least a week in advance of your therapy, it will be more effective and cause less downtime.
- Refrain from all forms of tanning – including natural sun exposure, tanning beds and spray/lotion tanning for 2-4 weeks before the treatment.
- Stay hydrated. Skin that is hydrated from within is healthy skin.
Our skin care specialists will discuss your aesthetic goals with you during your consultation to help you achieve a healthy, glowing appearance.
